About
Meet the Speech Therapist
Dacia Ivey is a speech-language pathologist (SLP) with 12 years of experience in private practice and hospital settings, including 4 years in the NICU. From treating the most fragile tiny humans, to having children of her own, Dacia became even more passionate about infant feeding and lactation. She specializes in infant feeding and swallowing disorders due to prematurity, medical fragility, ankyloglossia (tongue tie), failure to thrive, and other issues. She has completed additional classes and training in lactation, ankyloglossia in infants and difficulty with weight gain in infants.
Introducing babies to solid foods is another passion of Dacia's. She specializes in oral-motor therapy to improve safety and efficiency when progressing to solid foods to ensure optimal growth and nutrition. Working with families to provide individualized treatment plans that best suits their needs is of high importance at Little Warriors. Dacia is dedicated to helping infants, children & their families find enjoyment and success in feedings and mealtimes.
Dacia also specializes in early language development in toddlers through play-based therapy, as well as speech/articulation therapy to improve speech intelligibility in children. Dacia provides detailed home exercise programs at the end of each session to ensure carryover of learned skills during treatment, to the child's daily life.
